Job Tasks

This job will include the following tasks:

• Help us design the overall data handling system
• Help us design the PostgreSQL database model
• Design and implement the ingestion front end, to ingest the data from different sources (CEIP, Skyline, SOS, TAM Data, etc.)
• Parse the input JSON and determine if any updates are needed to the Jira and/or
PostgreSQL systems and make the appropriate changes
• Journal the changes as a “replay journal”
• Design and implement a json parser to parse the json bundles generated by the deployed
software and create from them the data transfer structure
• Regular reporting on progress of the project.

Required Skills

• Strong Python programming skills along with its libraries and language bindings, especially
related to databases and big data systems
• Strong PostgreSQL skills, including relational database design, normalization, and SQL programming
• Strong knowledge of Jira and its integration/operation APIs
• Strong working knowledge of REST APIs
• Project management skills Highly desired skills
• Knowledge of VMware’s core products (including vSphere, vSAN, and NSX)
• Knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation product, including its features, functionality, deployment, operations, etc.
• Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment
• Skilled in working in a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive well-scoped projects to completion with a multidisciplinary team
• Skilled in quickly developing productive working relationships with diverse teams
• Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Agility in execution when a project is time-sensitive and visible to a customer Core Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or higher) or equivalent work experience
• Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills – can clearly summarize and communicate technical/business issues and project status
• Dedication to quality work, attention to detail and sense of urgency and ownership of work deliverables
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
